How I Got Into Real Estate: My mother had always talked about getting into Real Estate when she retired from teaching and wanted to go into business with me. I had been working in the golf business, which was a dead end job, with little pay and no benefits for almost twenty years. I set up an appointment with Art Zachery the owner of Womble Realty in mid November 1994 and started Alpha College of Real Estate the following Monday. The rest is history! With a large transient military presence in Tidewater and the fact that everyone needs a roof over their heads, a career in real estate made sense to me. By the way, my mother is still teaching to this day.
Smartest Thing I ever did: Got out of the golf business and into real estate, joining Rose & Womble Realty, the # 1 Real Estate Resource in Hampton Roads. Having been accustomed to serving people, real estate allows me the ability to help people achieve lifelong goals of finding a property they can call HOME, and relationships that last a lifetime.
Achievements Most Proud of: Being a Circle of Excellence recipient, putting me amongst the elite of my professional peers. In 2005, 61% of my business was repeat business and 29% was from client referrals. I guess I must be doing something right! I also qualified for the Foot-Joy National Assistants Tournament in Brockton, MA by winning the Middle Atlantic PGA (Professional Golf Association) Section Assistants Tournament in 1985 by shooting 68-70 (-6) at Shannon Greens in Fredricksburg, VA. I also participated in the PGA Club Pro Series in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. for several years. I have won the Cavalier Golf & Yacht club Club Championship three times and the SR championship once. My son, Willy & I won the Parent-Child shooting 69 alternate shot.
Hobbies: Golf of course, Boating, Fishing, Card Games
Community Involvement: Past President of the Wellington Woods Civic League in Great Neck. United Way, Red Cross, and Relay for Life Contributor.
Best Lesson I Ever Learned: Sales Skills! Proud to admit that I learned my sales skills working for Jennings House at Red Wing Lake Golf Course in Virginia Beach selling golf equipment. I can honestly say we sold more golf shoes in Virginia during the 1980’s than anyone else. When you hire a Realtor to sell your home, you will need someone with Sales Skills. The ability to drive traffic to your property and sell it for the highest possible net is truly what you should expect. I promise to help you reach that goal.
What I Want People to Know About Me and My Business: For over a decade I have strived to assist people with Home Ownership. My personal philosophy concerning wealth includes owning a home; every wealthy person I know owns his or her home. It is crazy to pay someone else’s mortgage or retirement by throwing money away in rent. By owning a home you are contributing to your net worth each and every month. Real Estate appreciates over time as well so you have gains while doing little to earn it. I believe in honesty and integrity and treat everyone the way I desire to be treated. No matter whether the news is good or bad I promise to deliver it honestly. Dealing with multiple clients every day I cannot afford to fabricate stories, my business comes from referrals; it is my life’s blood, and I guard that trust.
